Terms of Use - YardNatives
What this site is
YardNatives reports USDA PLANTS county distribution records, native status and growing characteristics. It is informational only. It is not a soil test, a site assessment by a landscaper, or a planting plan.
No warranty on the lists
A county record means a plant has been documented growing wild somewhere in that county, not that it grows in every part of it or will establish in a particular yard. Ratings for shade, drought, soil and flooding are USDA's general characteristics for the species, not for your site. Nothing here is guaranteed to match a specific yard, and a nursery or local native-plant society should have the last word before you buy.
Toxicity and invasiveness
Where USDA records a toxicity rating it is shown, but its absence does not mean a plant is safe to eat or for pets to chew. A plant native to the lower 48 can still be aggressive in a small garden, and some natives are also listed as introduced in parts of their range. Check before planting near children, pets or livestock.
